Big Chill

Even though the groundhog saw his shadow and spring is apparently right around the corner, there is still a chill in the air in the mid-Atlantic. A big chill to be exact. Harper's Bazaar captured it perfectly in their photo shoot archived from October 2010. (So long ago, I know.) Apres ski meets the abominable Snowman. You can't help but love the fur pieces. Even those of you who are anti. Come on, admit it...

Lookbook.

Some of you may know that I am a part time fashion blogger for an up-and-coming online retailer ENVI Shoes. (Ahem, shamless plug.) Some of you may not. Anywho, a couple of weeks ago we enlisted the extremely good looks of model Paige Creighton to be the face of our first ever lookbook for Spring 2011! We were focusing on the capsule collection from Jeffrey Campbell, PINK ROCK, and the finished product watrès chic.

Here are a few snap shots of the finished product... View the entire lookbook on ENVI's blog.

Nippon

I say "Hell Yeah!" to anything Anna Della Russo. She is a creative fashion genius, and anything she styles turns to sartorial gold. Take for instance the newest, March 2011, issue of Vogue Nippon (Japan) with Karmen Pedaru starring in The Look Says It All editorial. Big hair, sailboats and birdcages? AND each outfit from a different designer? Yes please.

NYE Hair

Obviously I am getting my "hur did" (an updo or blowout at the least) today for NYE. I would not leave my own untrained hair styling skills to sacrifice my hair on this momentous evening. It's the longevity issue that is most problematic for me. I tend to play with my hair A LOT, but if I have paid for the way it looks I am less likely to F it up. A few ideas I have been thinking of:

Hopefully Megan at Salon Laurie can make either of these happen. Wish me luck!
AND... Happy New Year!

Rehab.

No it's not what you think. Although some of you know me as a "good time girl" I am not entering rehab. But I did stumble, figuratively speaking of course, upon this great photo shoot by Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia from September 2007. A throwback of sorts.

It's interesting to think of all the celebrities and pseudo-celebrities that have entered rehab at some point throughout their careers. Off the top of my head I can list a half dozen... Lindsay Lohan, Kirsten Dunst, Robert Downey Jr., Nicole Richie, Britney Spears, even Jenna Bush! (I'd imagine that one was just short of another Watergate scandal.) Some did it for publicity and some really needed outside help to combat their addictions.

This photo shoot, although on a very serious subject matter, infuses a little humor into the heavy topic at hand. To see super models, who may or may not need to see a nutritionist at the least (totally different argument), acting as rehab patients and going bonkers is compelling. I find the girls showing of their "Britneys" especially cheeky. Remember that moral dilemma that so many "IT" girls insisted on forgetting about? Oops.

Check out the rest of the photoshoot here. I've selected some of my favorites below.

I've been playing around with Polyvore while writing for the new fashion blog I just started at, Envi Shoes. I love this site. Not only does it give you access to so many high-end designer names, it is the epitome of fantasy "window shopping", via the window in front me... my computer. Here is the latest look I concocted while my boyfriend was ignoring me and playing computer games...

Outfit to Love

For work that is... This 3.1 Phillip Lim skirt is the perfect length for work, hitting just below the knee with a draped tulip pleat in the front. The skirt, fabricated with crepe-jersey fabric, will keep you comfortable by moving with you instead of constricting, allowing for all-day wear.
3.1 Phillip Lim skirt from Net-a-Porter $425
Pair it with this by Malene Birger silk chiffon and satin panel blouse, a camel oversized coat (which are EVERYWHERE this season) from Alexander Wang, and Brian Atwood hidden platform pumps in nude and you're all set.
by Malene Birger blouse at Net-a-Porter $395
Alexander Wang coat at Net-a-Porter $1,100
Brian Atwood pumps at Net-a-Porter $695
A chic, comfortable work ensemble that can be paired with funkier pieces (AKA a leather jacket, or skinny cargo jeans) to go from day to night for post work cocktails.
