Bop Sale.

I've been kind of Shop Bop-obsessed recently because of their amazing spring sale. Being mid-March it's the perfect time to update part of my spring wardrobe with a new piece or two. I'm thinking of going with a boho-chic floral silk chiffon in a muted palette (layered of course) until the weather warms up. Dilemma- not sure which garment I want need most. Maybe a little spring cleaning is in order too...

I'm In Las Vegas...

So I just got back from the fabulous Las Vegas, and let me tell you, it was one hell of a trip. The Wynn's Tower Suites were my home for the duration of the trip (Thurs-Tues) and we ended with one night at the Green Valley Ranch. Le boyfriend did well on the blackjack table and I reaped the benefits by his side and at the spa. Unfortunately, it wasn't until my return trip that I noticed the Las Vegas shopping guide in the April Lucky Mag. I have a great photo montage to share... consider it a three part special.

What a fantastic find! Philippe Roucou's silk scarves are my newest obsession of the moment. His square scarves are printed with found abandoned polaroid images and designed in conjunction with artist M. Chérie. Outfit to Love

Transitions... Winter has been so unforgiving this year, and my skin is craving some Vitamin D. But, I'm planning to layer up and keep warm until I can peel off my clothes better then strippers on the block. I know, I could have also referenced it to feeling like an onion- but strippers are much more... colorful?

Wedgie

I am lusting after quite a few pairs of wedges for spring. They are such a practical heel for any occasion, from everyday errand running to shakin' your thang on the dance floor. My Cynthia Vincent for Target wedges (an amazing thrift purchase last spring, at $29.99 a pop I should have bought 20 pairs!) are sadly on their last leg. That's what pleather does to you... makes you think you're invincible, then WHAM! Shoes are falling apart like last years Christmas tree.

Anyone of these will be a sufficient replacement to mend the deep hole in my heart closet. Obvi, the Chloe's are my fave!

Lone Ranger

Check this out... A lone Prada "store" in the Lone-Star state of Texas, situated just on the outskirts of the town of Marfa on Route 90. The store is actually an art installation, sans customers or sales people, and consisting of only 20 left-foot shoes and 6 handbags from the Fall/Winter 2005 collection- the same season this installment was resurrected. German artists Elmgree and Dragset built the installation as a "pop architectural land art project", designed to weather the elements and serve as a sort of fashion time capsule. but without much of a plan for longevity. I read that although the building has proper structural support the building materials are all environmentally friendly and biodegradable, and will allow the structure to eventually "melt" into the surrounding landscape with time. I would love to roadtrip and see this lonely, and extremely random ode to fashion before it's too late. Anyone own an RV? Or maybe I'll just have one shipped from Snail Trail across the pond.

A Day at Barney's

So I was in New York this weekend for one of the most FAB parties I have ever been to! It was my friend Filippa's 25th birthday party, held at her family's apartment on Central Park South. Top floor penthouse, amazing view, incredibly delicious food (most of which had some type of truffle-infused aspect, Flip is CRAZY about truffles), you get the picture... Anyway, leading up to this fabulous soiree my girlfriend Jaclyn and I spent the better part of our day at Barney's, well before we could ruin our nail and blowout appointments. I must embarrassingly admit that this was my first ever trip to the holy-grail that is Barney's, but am also proud to announce it will be my "go-to" from now on.

Barney's stats:
Nine floors, two sides (a men's and a woman's side, only accessible via even-floor entrances), two spas, a restaurant, a stationer ... the list goes on and on.

Barney's does a phenomenal job buying and editing their merchandise selection, continuing to remain ahead of the curve in promoting upcoming designers and trends.  Walking around the Co-Op, which is their contemporary department, irresistible brands such as 3.1 Phillip Lim, Carven, A.L.C., Richard Chai, and Gemma jumped out at me at an impressively alarming rate. Not only are the clothing and accessories impressive, but Barney's also has entertainment for those of us who are assisting the shopper. Here are a few snap shots I gathered on my BlackBerry, including the Vince display above in the elevator bank on 5, while walking around to find Jackie a dress (which we did!), and then our delicious lunch at Fred's.

Now, Fred's on 9. This bustling bistro and eatery to see-and-be-seen offers everything for brunch, lunch, dinner and even high tea on weekdays. The service was excellent, not even a second look when I realized my glass of champagne (half-drank) actually had remnants of someone else's mimosa pulp. ECK! But I got a full complimentary pour on the house, in a clean glass, and all was right in the world. I highly recommend this dish from Fred's, the wild mushroom risotto with truffle oil and grated parmesan cheese. Pair it with a a glass of champagne and it is an incredibly satisfying meal!
