Traditions

Thursday evening I experienced a huge Baltimore tradition, the lighting of the Washington Monument. After much debate, I also managed to drag along the boyfriend for the show. The lighting was really a great experience, there were tons of people around, a amateur saxophonist playing Christmas carols, and fireworks. A bona fide holiday tradition in the making.

The glorious Washington Monument illuminated by Christmas lights and fireworks!
Scarred puppies. You should have seen how rambunctious these 3 were before the fireworks started going off.

The only thing that could make it better was a hearty meal. Where? If you said a yummy dinner at Sascha's in Mt. Vernon you're right. I will admit, originally, we had reservations for Brewer's Art, that nationally recognized (Baltimore) micro brewery just north of the monument, but after a little reconsidering the boy and I decided to go someplace even closer AND new to our taste buds. Both a plus in my book. The ambience was delightful and the food was amazing. The only downfall was the 2-top we were sitting at got lost once the post-monument lighting crowd swarmed in, so we had to wait about 20 minutes before our drinks were even ordered! Not OK. But seeing that there were extenuating circumstances and our waitress was nice and expedited our meal, all was forgiven. We ordered the Bison Burger Sliders, Snapper Baja Tacos, Calamari, and the Shrimp and Grits with andouille sausage. All were a tantalizing treat for the taste buds, but I highly recommend the Bison Burger sliders... Cannot go wrong! Anyway here are a few shots I took of Sascha's:

Snapper Baja Tacos. UHHH!!! So delicious.

Bison Burger Sliders. Yes Yes Yes!
